This is Christmas

It’s Christmas Eve! I love Christmas time, because it always seems like things are more cheerful.

Some of the things I like about Christmas are:

  • Christmas movies (especially Elf)
  • Christmas songs
  • Hot chocolate
  • Christmas morning casserole (can’t wait until tomorrow!)
  • Family time
  • Food
  • Christmas lights
  • Ugly Christmas sweaters (LOVE)
  • Setting up the Christmas tree
  • Giving gifts
  • & Ultimately, it’s Jesus’ birthday! (Well it’s when we take time to remember His birth anyway)

Isn’t it amazing to think about the birth of Jesus… our King. He came in such a lowly way & it was all for our benefit. He is the reason that we celebrate Christmas. He is the reason that we celebrate every day. #JesusIsTheReasonForTheSeason

It can be so easy during this time to get stressed from Christmas shopping, cooking Christmas dinner, accomadating for out of town family, & running countless errands all on top of the normal routine of life.

We may neglect ourselves, beacause of taking care of everyone else. We may neglect our alone time with Jesus, because of the long list of to-dos (Guilty) This season really can be a hassle… if you let it be.

Maybe you aren’t feeling so joyful this season… maybe it seems like everyone around you is happy for Christmas, but you just aren’t feeling it. It happens. Don’t worry.

Life has a way of knocking us down, but the only option I can see is to get back up again. Don’t let anyone or anything steal your joy. It’s not theirs to take.  My advice: seek Jesus. I don’t mean to be cliche, but seriously. Seek Jesus. He is the source of our joy.

So today, on Christmas Eve, the last day before Christmas, take some time to reflect on where your time is being spent. Take some time to reflect on where your heart truly is. I know I’m not really telling you anything new, but I just want to be another reminder. When things are getting hectic, not only during the holidays, but also in other seasons of life, go back to your roots… go back to where you find your joy.

So, Merry Christmas! I hope this is the best one yet and that you find new meaning… new revelation, during this season. ❤️

“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21
