I am a lover of saving money. It is that simple. I look for sales and bargains and the cheap stuff. There are certain things that I have learned you shouldn’t skimp out on, such as laundry detergent. The quality of name brand detergent is just so much better. Although, I am thinking about making my own laundry detergent. If I do I will let you know how that goes.
Any hoo, back to the point of this post. I have noticed that many bloggers or YouTubers who do makeup tutorials or beauty hauls, use more expensive/high-end makeup. Now I’m not saying I wouldn’t like to one day own certain high end makeup products, because I definitely would. But at this point I’m doing fine with my drug store makeup products.
So, I thought I might share some of my favorite drug store makeup products that I use daily or almost daily.
- e.l.f. poreless face primer – $6
This primer actually feels really good going on my skin and helps my foundation go on easier. I don’t know if I would say it’s actually “poreless”, but I have big pores. So for those of you with smaller pores, it might help more. - e.l.f blush (peachy pink color) – $2
I love e.l.f. blush. It works well, looks good, and it’s super cheap. That’s all I have to say. *mic drop* - e.l.f. brow pencil (neutral brown) – $2
This is the first and only brow pencil I have used and I really like it. Once again… e.l.f., need I say more? *mic drop* - Neutrogena skin clearing oil-free foundation – $14.09 (maybe found cheaper at wal-mart or target)
I really love this foundation! A little back story: I used to just buy whatever foundation was cheap, which happened to be the Maybelline FIT me foundation. (it was about $5) I noticed that my skin would get really oily and I would then get bad breakouts. I decided at this point it was time to step up my game a bit and find a more expensive foundation that is better for my skin. So I tried out the Neutrogena oil-free foundation that is designed for acne prone skin. Now my skin does not get oily from the makeup, which is so wonderful. (I have really oily skin y’all) Plus, it has good coverage! I would definitely recommend if you need a good acne friendly, oil-free, cheap foundation. - Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara (black) – $8.49
I’ve tried many many many different mascaras, because I love mascara. Out of all of the ones that I have tried this is one of my favorites. It gives my lashes volume and it’s not super clumpy. Plus it is apparently supposed to help your lashes grow. (Which I am all for.) - Maybelline FIT me Translucent powder – $7.99
I haven’t always used powder, but after I tried my sister’s out I became a fan. I like this powder, because it is a translucent powder and is supposed to work on all skin tones. This helps me, because I don’t have to
1. try to find my skin tone match and…
2. I can use it in the summer when I’m darker AND in the winter when I get pasty! (the struggle is real!) - Maybelline concealer (dark circle eraser) – $12.99 (maybe found cheaper at wal-mart)
I have dark circles under my eyes… I always have. It’s caused by my seasonal allergies… So I got this concealer that is specifically made for under eye circles. This is the only concealer I have tried, so I can’t speak from many perspectives… but I do like this one. - wet n wild Au Naturel eye shadow palette – $6.99
This palette has 10 neutral shades that are a mixture of matte shades and shimmer shades. I really like this palette and plan to buy another wet n wild palette in a different color scheme. Also, paired with the primer below this eye shadow looks real good! - wet n wild photo focus eye shadow primer – $4.99
I was looking for a eye shadow primer for quite some time and I couldn’t find one that was both cheap and good quality. I came across the wet n wild eye shadow primer (which I used for my wedding makeup) and I love it! It works really well and my eye shadow goes on so much better. Plus, it stays on! - wet n wild contouring palette (Dulce de Leche) – $4.99
I do not use this everyday. I’m not yet a pro at contouring… if you are, then you should teach me your ways. But, I do think this is a good basic, beginner contour palette. I’m sure there are much better ones out there, however. - Cover Girl perfect point eyeliner (black) – $4.94
I do not use this everyday. I’ve used this brand of eyeliner for a long period of time. I’m not a fan of liquid eyeliners or pencil eye liners, so this is a good in-between for me. - Mary Kay lash primer (not drug store) – $15
This product is not from the drug store, but I use it everyday and I literally love it. It helps lengthen my eye lashes, which I love so much!
BONUS: This isn’t a makeup product, but it is a beauty product. For those of you with acne prone skin, this might be a product for you.
- Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Face Scrub -$6.27
I am not currently using this, because I like to switch up what I use on my face every now and then. {What I’m currently using (here, here, and here) is not a drug store product, but I did get it on sale.} Anyways, when I used this I really liked it and it actually did help with my acne. So if you’re looking for a cheap product to try, you might want to look into this. Obviously, if you have sensitive skin or severe acne, you may want to consult your doctor first as products have different affects on people.
